If you’ve been building your Joomla site locally, then this video tutorial will help you transfer your site to your live web server. If you haven’t gotten that far yet, then check out my tutorial, How to install Joomla on localhost.

Transfering your Joomla site to your hosting account is a simple process that doesn’t require any extensions, coding knowledge or server experience. This tutorial goes over these four basic steps to get your site up & running on your live web host:

Zip the contents of your local joomla site
Export your Joomla database from phpMyAdmin
Upload the zip file to your live hosting account
Import your site’s database to your hosting account

I should mention that I’m using Hostgator’s Cpanel in the video above. If you’ve seen my other tutorials, then you know that highly recommend HostGator (yes, it’s an affiliate link because I use and trust them).

You won’t find a better Joomla hosting company out there. In fact, HostGator was awarded the Best Joomla hosting company two years in a row for their outstanding customer support (which I can personally attest to, having hosted dozens of sites with them).
